Dear Colleagues and Friends:
I am announcing my candidacy for the office of Mayor in Lithonia, Georgia. I have served on the City Council for the past two years and recognize the need to move into a different leadership position to have a more meaningful impact on the decisions that affect people’s lives. The City of Lithonia has a population of 2,100 and is located 18 miles southeast of Atlanta in DeKalb County. Like many communities during this economic downturn, the City has struggled to maintain the level of services.
I decided to undertake the challenge once again because of the needs and issues that continue to affect the quality of life in our community. My campaign theme is “It Takes Unity to Build Community”. My goals as Mayor include creating an advisory council to provide meaningful opportunities for community input; providing good management and stewardship of the financial and human resources of the city; working with business and property owners to increase business and job opportunities; developing partnerships for social programs for our youth and seniors; and promoting responsible development projects. Several plans have been prepared for the redevelopment of the City over the years; I am determined to move the plans to implementation. My experiences as a negotiator, organizer, facilitator, attorney, and community development consultant will enhance my ability to lead the City in a progressive direction.

I am asking for your prayers and support in this endeavor. The election is November 8, 2011. As you know, this effort requires both human and material resources. A minimum contribution of $100.00 is requested. Of course all contributions will be greatly appreciated.
