Three students from Kilombo Academic & Cultural institute in DeKalb County (metro Atlanta) addressed the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners this evening. Under the leadership of their teacher Tashiya Umoja, the young scholars shared their research on the harmful effects of the biomass gasification method of electricity production. A biomass fuel plant was being proposed by a developer for a location in South DeKalb, the predominantly Black section of the County. The Kilombo presentation was warmly received by the standing-room-only audience who rose from their chairs to stand in silent support as they spoke.
